National Vocational Qualifications in Team Leading and Management are work-related competence-based qualifications available to anyone at any stage of their career - designed to
assess the skills, knowledge and abilities of an individual, and are therefore ideal for people who have been away from education for some years and yet want to gain recognition and
accreditation for their skills. They can also be used as a method of personal and professional development.
These courses underpin and enhance core skills and competence for those working in team leader and managemnt roles, and develop an individuals awareness of how important their role is and how they affect their staff and customers inside and outside of their department or organisation. An individual unit may be taken for specific unit accreditation, or the required number to make up a full certificate.
Which NVQ level?
Level 2: Team leaders and supervisors whose work involves the application of knowledge and skills in a significant range of varied work and activities, performed in a variety of contexts, some of which are complex.
Level 3: Practising first line managers who have a tightly defined area of responsibility and some limited opprtunity for taking decisions and managing budgets, as well as allocating work to team members, colleagues and contractors.
Level 4: Practising middle managers with responsibility for allocating work to others, achieving specific results by using resources effectively, carrying out policy in his / her own area of responsibility, controlling limited financial budgets and contributing to broader activities such as recruitment or change programmes.
